Features of New Website

You are reading this post which means that you have arrived at our new look website which we have moved into the WordPress content management system. The new site is more flexible and easier to maintain. It also provides a platform for us to better manage our membership data (see below). The site migration, redesign and database development project was made possible by the creative experts at Watermelon Web Works, and through the effort of our our website redesign committee: Becky Hill, Blake Hossack, Eric Lund, Darcy Pickard, Lindsey Thurman, and Teal Waterstrat.

The primary navigation menu of this site and the content of most of the pages are similar to the old site and it should be easy to find your way around. We will now present important announcements such as this overview of our new site, information about our annual meeting as well as some new content through posts, which we will provide links to in the “What’s New” section of our homepage and in the sidebar on the right side of every post. These posts also provide the opportunity for members and any other visitors to our website to provide feedback through the comments form at the bottom of each.

The new member database that we have built in to this site is the biggest change. Current members can create an account and login to our site. Click the red login link at bottom of any page on the site or select My Account -> login from the main navigation bar at the top.

Once logged in a new member content page will be available from the dropdown menu below the membership link in the main navigation menu. That page that contains the link to our BioOne journal archives and some additional resources for download, including 2 cumulative indexes for our journal covering 1920-1988 and 1989-2006 as well our oldest and out of print Northwest Fauna publications in .pdf format. Also you will be able to view your account history and edit your contact information from the my account tab in the main navigation menu. This will help us maintain our membership and communication system which will include an email reminder when your renewal date approaches, which lots of folks have asked for in the past. It will also ensure that you receive all of the great material you are entitled to as a valued member of SNVB in good standing.
