Madison M. McGroarty

Washington Vice President

(she/her)

I hail from rural North Carolina before moving to Florida in 2015. Graduated with a B.S. in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida and an alligator handling certificate. My background is in working with freshwater turtles of north central Florida since 2018 and researching mangrove-influenced coral systems in the Virgin Islands. During my time in Florida, I also volunteered at a wildlife rehabilitation clinic and at an entomology lab to forcibly get over a general dislike of spiders. In 2021, I began working as a USFWS fish and wildlife biologist in Washington state. Currently, I am acting as the species lead for northwestern pond turtle and co-lead for Oregon vesper sparrow and Siuslaw hairy-necked tiger beetle.

When not found at my desk, the next best place to check would be a wetland catching snakes, flipping logs, or foraging a snack.
