Erim Gomez has been a SNVB member since 2009. He earned a Bachelors of Science from Southern Oregon University in Environmental Studies and minors in both Economics and Political Science. He received his Masters degree in Natural Resource Sciences from Washington State University, working on Palouse Prairie Wetland Ecology and Amphibian Conservation. Erim is currently a 3rd year Ph.D. student in the School of the Environment at WSU and is building upon his thesis research. His research interests include conservation of endangered species and the ecology and sustainability of freshwater ecosystems. He believes that the more lenses through which we can see the world, the better able we are to solve the pressing global environmental problems faced by society. Prior to earning his Masters degree he served as Co-Director of the Ecology Center of the Siskiyous. In 2011, Erim won the $100,000 Bullitt Environmental Leadership Fellowship. In addition, he serves as advisor to WSU’s Chicano student group, and the campus Latino dance group. Erim often gives talks to students encouraging them to diversify the STEM fields and the need to diversifying the professoriate.
